Make Your Own Virtual Marathon Course: The Bronx

As New York's hometown airline and the official airline of NYRR and the TCS New York City Marathon, United encourages runners to support local businesses in their communities, and we do so as well. United encourages you to shop locally and add photos of your favorite restaurants or local shops along your training route.

Our (virtual) tour of the five boroughs continues this week as training for the Virtual TCS New York City Marathon ramps up. This week, we're moving across the Harlem River from Manhattan to the Bronx, the original home of New York Road Runners.

In 1958, the group that became NYRR held its first run in Macombs Dam Park; more than 60 years later, that same area welcomes runners to the finish line of the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile. While the in-person 10-miler may not be taking place this year, you can still celebrate the only borough connected to the mainland United States by signing up for the Virtual New Balance Bronx 10 Mile.

As for the Virtual Marathon, this week we're looking for recommendations on places in the Bronx that you would include on your virtual 26.2. We've included some initial tips from NYRR staffers on the map below, and if you have any ideas for places to add to the map, send them in using the form below the map! We'll be adding more as we receive them throughout the week, so check back soon for more places to see in the Bronx.

Next week, we'll be covering the borough of Queens, so get your responses ready!
