Trina Bills

  • Group Training

Trina has been an elite athlete chasing personal bests on the track, including a top-30 time in the 800m at the NCAA East Regional Championships, but has most recently found herself chasing experiences over times in New York City running community. She has raced everything from the 100m to an ultramarathon relay. An athlete and a coach for several organizations across the city, she believes that the benefits of running do not end when you take off your running shoes. She aims to make training about more than just the time on the watch.

Q&A with Trina

What program do you coach?
NYRR Group Training

How would you describe your coaching style?

My coaching will always focus on the human element. Training needs to fit the person, not the other way around. My goal for every athlete is to provide them with the tools that will not only make them a better runner year down the line but also feel like they can conquer anything that they set their mind to.

What is your proudest coaching moment?
My favorite moments are when I see someone realize they can do more than what they originally thought they could, whether that is a new PR, another rep in a workout, or running just one more minute than yesterday. It's the realization that if they got past that barrier, what else could they accomplish that they hadn't thought of before?

What is your favorite workout to coach and why?
Anything on the track! Speed work is not just for shorter distance runners,  everyone can do it!

How many years have you been coaching?
More than six years
