NYRR Celebrates Global Volunteer Month

April is Global Volunteer Month! Global Volunteer Month is a time to celebrate volunteers as well as inspire volunteerism around the globe. Volunteers are the heartbeat of strong communities, and we’re celebrating our NYRR volunteers all month long.

Medical Volunteers

A very important role—the medical volunteer is present to call in medical emergencies and take note of the runner’s location so medical assistance can arrive quickly and tend to the runner’s needs.

Volunteers assist at the TCS New York City Marathon and at related events in the week leading up to the race. Volunteer registration for the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon is now open!

NYRR Volunteer Hall of Fame

Each April, during volunteer appreciation month, NYRR identifies, nominates and inducts our volunteers who have demonstrated at least 20 years of volunteer service.

Volunteer Groups

Groups of any kind, such as schools, athletic teams, church groups, companies, and more can earn guaranteed entries + volunteer opportunities to the following year’s TCS New York City Marathon and NYRR Five-Borough Series.

Volunteer Leaders

For individuals looking to rise up to greater responsibility at the TCS New York City Marathon. These Leaders check in other volunteers, give orientations, and provide support by facilitating a positive volunteer experience.
