Mitchell Strong
Mitchell is a long-time resident of New York City who has over 25 years of coaching experience. As a lifelong runner, Mitchell has run a number of short distance races, marathons, ultra-marathons, and every distance in between. Currently he is an NYRR Striders coach leading fitness walks in Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx. He has a passion for coaching and loves to see participants having fun at sessions.

How would you describe your coaching style?
Easy, laid back with emphasis on together we can "do this" and have fun "doing it."
What is your favorite workout to coach and why?
I like talking to people about the value of walking and exercising, I love introducing people to forms of exercise beyond the traditional. I incorporate games that we used to play as kids into our workouts to keep things fun but to also give participants a workout.
How many years have you been coaching?
I have been an NYRR Striders coach for five years and a running coach for over 25 years.

What is your favorite place to run in New York City?
My favorite place to run is Van Cortlandt Cross Country course in the Bronx. I have been running on that course since my sophomore year in high school.
What is your favorite NYRR race?
I have three equally favorite races: NYRR NYC 60K, New Balance 5th Ave Mile, and NYRR Open Run.
What is your personal running motto?
Run for life, run for the rest of your life.
