Kristin Waters
Kristin has been a running coach for two years and a marathon pacer for six years. She ran my first marathon in 2005 and swore she'd never run another one again! But in 2010, she did a marathon team relay and was inspired by the runners, so she completed her second in 2011 and was hooked! She loves running as a sport and hobby, so she enjoys coaching because it provides her with an opportunity to share what she's learned over the years in helping others meet their goals!

How would you describe your coaching style?
Very motivating. I think it's important to meet a runner where they are and by understanding their goals and personal comfort levels, assist them in achieving their goals. I care about form, injury prevention, and having fun! I always like to look at the positives and what's been learned in any running event or training session.
What is your proudest coaching moment?
In 2019 I was pacing a marathon in Virginia and around mile 23 (with my pace group) passed another runner and we immediately recognized each other! I had paced her in her first marathon earlier that year. She was so excited to see me and said because of my pacing/coaching during her first marathon, she felt the confidence to run a second marathon and that all of my tips and tricks are spot on. It was really exciting to know that because of my help, she had the confidence to run another marathon!
What is your favorite workout to coach and why?
I really love to coach the tempo runs because we are focusing on several elements at once that are challenging: duration, effort, and form. To see the transformation from the start, where runners are nervous about the workout, to when they've finished and executed the workout—the look of pride, elation, joy, and happiness in meeting the goal is truly priceless and brings me joy every time!
