Farah Visslailli
Farah is a RRCA Level 1 certified coach who is new to NYRR Group Training, but has been helping runners cross the finish line with Team in Training in Brooklyn since 2014. She ran her first half marathon in 2009, and her first marathon in 2010. Now, 11 marathons and countless half marathons later, she hasn’t looked back. While the half and full marathon distance is her passion, her true forte comes in the form of a different type of running challenge - food: Farah won the NYC Pizza Run (a 5K that involves eating pizza mid-run) in 2017.
Having spent 8+ years in the customer service industry, Farah loves running for the bond it fosters within the local community. She also believes wholeheartedly in the mind-body connection, and in the idea that running can be a powerful tool to get to get to know yourself better, both mentally and physically, and she cannot imagine her life without the sport. She is always striving to improve, and hopes to inspire the same in other runners, but at the same time, she tries not to take herself too seriously (see: pizza run).
Where is your favorite place to run in New York City?
At the risk of sounding very boring, Prospect Park. I could run that loop forever! But when I’m looking for a change of scenery, I love to run along the Brooklyn waterfront and over the Williamsburg Bridge.
What is your favorite NYRR race?
I’m torn between two, both long-standing traditions for me: the NYRR Jingle Bell Jog (9 consecutive years and counting) and the Popular® Brooklyn Half (8 consecutive years, and my half marathon PR)
What is your personal running motto?
It’s all in your head.
