2020 TCS New York City Marathon Application Queue System FAQs

Read below for information about the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon application registration process, as well as answers to questions about the application's queueing system.

What is this queue for?

The application for the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon is open from January 30 through February 13 and we expect higher web traffic than normal during this time. In order to provide an optimal user experience for everyone who visits the site, we are limiting the number of visitors at any given time.

What if I do not want to register for the Marathon?

If you are not registering for the Marathon, you may still be placed in the queue due to higher-than-normal web traffic. You may join the queue if you wish; however, we encourage you to avoid the queue by returning to the site when it is less busy. The application for the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon will be open through February 13, and we expect web traffic to return to normal levels after January 30. We appreciate your patience.

How long will I be in the queue?

Your estimated wait time can be seen at the bottom of the queueing page. Your wait time may decrease quickly if people in front of you leave the queue or if we are able to let more people into the site.

What if my expected wait time increases?

If we have to decrease the number of people that we allow on the site at one time, your wait time may increase. If this happens, we will work hard to try to decrease your wait time. We appreciate your patience.

What happens when I reach the front of the queue and am able to enter the site?

When it is your turn to enter the site, you will be automatically redirected to the 2020 TCS New York City Marathon race page. You will have 10 minutes to initiate the registration process or navigate to a different page on our website.

Do I need to wait by my computer while I'm in the queue?

Feel free to visit other sites or step away from your computer while you're in the queue. Your wait time may decrease quickly, but once you are released from the queue to the site, you'll have 10 minutes to initiate the registration process or to navigate to a different page on the website.

Is there anything I can do to make my wait time faster?

We encourage users in the queue to use only one device. Using multiple devices adds users to the queue and increases the wait time for everyone.

What does it mean when the queue is paused?

This means we are making a few quick changes to the site. As soon as those changes are complete, we will un-pause the queue.

The queueing system was used for our 2020 Brooklyn Half registration.  Although we experienced technical difficulties with registration that have now been fixed, the queueing system functioned properly and did not cause the issue.

Was queueing the cause of the issue with Brooklyn Half registration?

The queueing system was used for our 2020 Brooklyn Half registration. Although we experienced technical difficulties with registration that have now been fixed, the queueing system functioned properly and did not cause the issue.
