NYRR Celebrates Pride Month and the 40th Running of the Pride Run
LGBT Pride Month is celebrated every June as a tribute to those involved in the Stonewall uprising of 1969, which is widely considered the start of the modern LGBT rights movement in the U.S. Pride Month also celebrates LGBTQIA+ pride and the ongoing movement toward equality, diversity, and inclusiveness.
For NYRR, June is the month of the Front Runners New York LGBT Pride Run, which will have its 40th running this year as a 6K on June 26 in Central Park. The race is a partnership between NYRR and Front Runners New York, and this year includes the Virtual Front Runners New York LGBT Pride Run 5K from June 25 through June 30.
Throughout the month, we’ll update this page to share more stories of LGBTQIA runners and events in history and our own time. Keep checking back, and we look forward to celebrating with you!
"A Time for Us to Celebrate Ourselves"
On June 26, 2021, New York Road Runners and Front Runners New York will continue an ongoing collaboration at the 40th Front Runners New York LBGT Pride Run.
A new video highlighting Front Runners New York presented by New Balance looks at the race's 40-year history and its celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride and the ongoing movement toward equality, diversity, and inclusiveness. The video is a moving look at an incredible journey and a recognition that together we still have a long way to go.
