NYRR Celebrates Athletes of All Abilities
This July for Disability Pride Month we celebrate athletes of all abilities at the Achilles Hope & Possibility 4M Presented by TD Bank on July 10 in Central Park and at the Virtual Achilles Hope & Possibility 5K from July 10 to July 18. Register now for the virtual race if you haven't already done so!
We also commemorate the anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26.Check out our blog post from 2020 celebrating the 30th anniversary of this landmark legislation and sharing the history of NYRR's advocacy for and support of athletes with disabilities.
NYRR has a history of inclusion of athletes with disabilities (AWDs) in our races and programs and a decades-long partnership with Achilles International, an organization that provides a community of support for AWDs.

Dick Traum lost his right leg in an accident when he was 24. At 35 he became the first known amputee runner to complete a marathon, and he later founded Achilles International. This year, at 80, he'll line up for his 27th New York City Marathon.
