Good Running News of the Week
Hello, and welcome back to another edition of Good Running News of the Week. We at New York Road Runners hope you are staying healthy. We hope that something here inspires you today. And if the goats don’t make you smile, well, we aren’t doing our jobs right.
The 2018 and 2019 TCS New York City Marathon champion and 2019 United Airlines NYC Half champion Daniel Romanchuk Zoomed with members of NYRR’s youth wheelchair training program last weekend. Romanchuk demonstrated some at-home exercises, showed the kids how he moves from his day chair to his racing chair, changed a tire on his racing chair without leaving it, and engaged in a push-up contest (pictured at top).
Alison Desir wrote a must-read essay for Outside about raising a black son in a world post-Ahmaud Arbery.
Tianna Bartoletta wrote a blog post about running while black, and why it will never be the same as running while white.
NYRR partner Abbott launched a social-media series this week to help their community better navigate these uncertain times, featuring experts on nutrition, mental health, goal-setting and more.

And Kastor’s essay prompted this response from Shalane Flanagan, who just adopted her son.
So beautiful @DeenaKastor. Brought me to tears. We have an open adoption and I’m going to share this with Jack’s birth mom 💙💙 Thank you!!

Runners around the world contributed favorite quarantine recipes to Becky Wade.
Mary Keitany shared a video of her family on Instagram.
Turns out marathoners might be uniquely prepared for quarantine.
But not all runners can hang tight during quarantine. So they're running a mile in blue jeans. (And raising money for the Mental Health Alliance in the process!)
Even Malcolm Gladwell’s watching (to be fair, there are no other sports on).
Who needs the NBA? Someone is trying to run a 4 minute mile in jeans. https://t.co/3Vbi4I5xST
