Quarter-Mile With Boogie Down Bronx Runners
On Sunday, September 29, more than 10,000 runners will race through the Bronx at the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile. Ahead of the race, we spoke with one of the Bronx’s top running clubs, Boogie Down Bronx Runners, for this edition of A Quarter-Mile With.

Fartlek or tempo? Tempo. It’s a hard, controlled pace run that helps you build you endurance and gets you ready to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Favorite NYRR race? New Balance Bronx 10 Mile. Being from the Bronx, how could it not be? I get to race the streets that my team runs on every week, the same streets where I grew up.
Favorite race distance? 13.1. You get to test your limits and finish with a medal.
Favorite distance to run? Any. Being able to run is a blessing. Every mile is a victory.
Running hero? My teammates. They inspire me every day.
Post-race meal? Eggs over medium, bacon, and whole wheat toast.
Cold-weather or warm-weather running? Cold weather.
Treadmills: yay or nay? Whatever gets it done. If you cannot run outside, then treadmill it is.
Most exotic place you’ve run? Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
Toughest race course, in your opinion? TCS New York City Marathon.
Song that makes you want to go faster? 100% by Big Pun.
You can run alongside any three people in the world: Who are they? My grandmother, my son, and Eliud Kipchoge.
