It's Pride Week! Here's What's Happening for Runners
June is Pride month in New York City, and this year’s celebrations are amplified as NYC Pride welcomes WorldPride to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising and a half-century of LGBTQIA+ liberation.
In the days leading up to the 38th annual Front Runners New York LGBT Pride Run, set for this Saturday, June 29, there are tons of fun, festive, and educational ways to celebrate Pride and solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community here in NYC and around the world. So get involved, show your Pride, and learn about the movement and its amazing history!
Front Runners New York LGBT Pride Run
Saturday, June 29, 8:30 a.m.
Central Park
This year marks the 38th running of this alliance between NYRR and Front Runners New York, a competitive and social club for LGBT runners, multisport athletes, and their allies. This year’s race has an increased cap to allow more runners to be a part of the milestone event, as NYRR and FRNY plan to make a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title attempt for the largest pride charity run. The race is sold out, but non-registrants can still be a part of the spirit by running the free NYRR Virtual Pride 5K (see below) and by coming to Central Park on Saturday to cheer and celebrate at the post-race festival, where you can also purchase a pair of Goodr x NYRR Virtual Racing Powered by Strava sunglasses for $25 from JackRabbit, while supplies last.
Through Sunday, June 30
Anywhere!
Sign up for free to run 5K (3.1 miles) anytime, anywhere from now through June 30 to celebrate your pride and show solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. If you’ll be running the in-person Front Runners New York LGBT Pride Run, sign up to run this virtual 5K race as well, and count your fastest 5K from your in-person race toward your virtual race result. Log your miles to Strava tagged as a race and see results in the Strava leaderboard.
When you use the following emojis or keywords in your Strava upload, your running route will be rainbow colored: 🌈, 🏳️🌈, LGBT, LGBTQ, LGBTQIA, queer, gay, lesbian, pride, #pride, #worldpride2019
