Important Volunteer Updates

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with New York Road Runners.

Volunteer opportunities for our events through August and the remainder of the Five Borough Series have been posted. They filled quickly due to demand.

When people cancel their volunteer opportunities, they become available again on the website. We do not have a waitlist for volunteer opportunities.

Reminder emails are sent out to registered volunteers 7-10 days before an event and these emails normally generate cancellations.


Key Dates

New volunteer opportunities will become available based on the following schedule:

  • Tuesday, April 2 – RBC Brooklyn Half Pre-Party volunteer registration opens.
  • May 28 for Member Plus and May 30 for Everyone – Volunteer registration opens for most September – December events.
  • Early August – TCS New York City Marathon Expo and marathon week (non-race day) volunteer opportunities open.

Additional volunteer opportunities will become available as operational needs arise.

As a reminder, NYRR does not accept walk-up volunteers and there is no on-site volunteer registration.

Helpful Tips

  • We do not have a wait list for volunteer opportunities.
  • If there is a specific race at which you would like to volunteer, but is currently full, check the Volunteer Opportunities page early in race week.
