A Race to Remember

For every runner, there’s always one race you know you’ll never forget.

Maybe it was the scenery along the course, the crowds cheering us on, or because we gave it our all. The 2009 New York City Marathon was all of that for me.

Winning New York was a dream of mine for many years. I’ve run different courses, in different countries, along different city streets, but none compares to New York City.

From the start on Staten Island, through the different neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, onto the quiet of the Queensboro Bridge, to the roaring crowds on First Avenue, through the energy of the Bronx and back into Manhattan for that final push through Central Park, my dream was realized.
