Your Virtual TCS New York City Marathon Checklist
Are you ready to race the 2020 Virtual TCS New York City Marathon? Use this checklist to make sure you have all your bases covered. Then, on race day all you'll need to think about is your run!
- Check out this helpful video and these tips from finishers of previous virtual marathons.
- Map your route with Strava Routes; it should be slightly longer than 26.2 miles.
- Line up your on-course support.
- Plan your fuel, hydration, and restrooms.
- Check the weather forecast and plan your gear.
- Assess your goals and pacing strategy.
- Download the NYRR Racing app, take a practice run, and get ready to hear the sounds of NYC during your race. Learn more. (Note: Downloading the NYRR Racing app is optional.)
- Connect your watch to Strava. Learn more.
- Learn how to save your run as a race on Strava and upload it correctly by November 4.
- Charge your GPS device (watch, phone) and your charger.

- Download the Virtual TCS New York City Marathon App Powered by Tata Consultancy Services (coming soon) and take a selfie with the virtual marathon medal!
- Make sure your mailing address is up to date in your NYRR account if you registered for the Run for the Medal, Run to Gain Guaranteed Entry, or Run to Fundraise for NYRR Team for Kids. Your medal will be sent after November 1 to your listed address.
