Mental Health Awareness Month: New York Road Runners Invites You to Move and “Win the Day”

"May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I’m inviting every New Yorker—regardless of age, ability or pace—to join me, whether that’s running, walking, or something in between. Millions of Americans experience mental health challenges and there’s a good chance running can help. Exercise boosts endorphins and self-esteem. Not only that, but the CDC estimates adults can lower their risk of depression by up to 20 percent through exercise."

On Saturday, he took on a new kind of stage — crossing the finish line of his very first half marathon at the RBC Brooklyn Half.

NYRR Celebrates Jewish American Heritage Month

May is Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM), a time to discover, explore, and celebrate the vibrant and varied American Jewish experience from the dawn of our nation to the present day. At New York Road Runners, we look at Jewish representation throughout the history of our organization and highlight the impact these athletes have had on the sport and in our community.

Indian American Running Club’s Mission Is About Lifting Each Other Up While Pursuing Fitness Goals

To celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, we’re spotlighting the Indian American Running Club (IARC), a nonprofit organization based out of Long Island with nearly 200 members. Founded in 2021, the club hosts races, training runs, group runs, and fun runs, and this November, having completed NYRR’s 9+1 program in 2024, 11 members will make their 26.2-mile debuts at the TCS New York City Marathon.
