Mohamed El Aaraby
Last year, Mohamed El Aaraby ran his TCS New York City Marathon debut in 2:09:06 – 44 seconds behind winner Albert Korir – to place second and become the first Moroccan on the podium in New York since 2009.
He will return to the five boroughs this year to race his fourth marathon of 2022; he already set a personal best of 2:06:55 to take seventh at the Paris Marathon in April, won the bronze medal in the World Military Championships marathon in May, and competed in the World Athletics Championships Marathon in July. It marked his second World Championships appearance but first finish at the event.
