Jess Piasecki
Jess Piasecki is the second fastest British women’s marathoner of all-time behind Paula Radcliffe. Her personal best of 2:22:27 came in January at the Sevilla Marathon, where she finished in fifth place. She was also the fastest from Great Britain at the World Championships marathon this summer, taking 12th place in 2:28:41. Previously, she had won the Usti nad Lbem Half Marathon in the Czech Republic and the Florence Marathon in Italy. She also represented Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics last year.
Prior to emerging as a competitive runner, she played field hockey in the North of England. In addition to training as a pro athlete, she has a Ph.D. and works part-time as a researcher and lecturer in exercise physiology within the sport science department at Nottingham Trent University.
