Geert Schipper
Geert Schipper is a two-time Paralympian in paratriathlon, having represented the Netherlands at both the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, and will likely compete at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. He won a silver medal in Rio and finished fourth in Tokyo.
He began competing in paratriathlon in 2013, and since then has also taken up wheelchair racing and paracycling. He planned to compete in his first marathon in 2020 in Hanover, Germany, but the pandemic hit, delaying his first marathon until last year in Paris, where he finished in second place. He went on to then win the Cape Town Marathon in October.
Schipper suffered a spinal-cord injury in a flying accident in 2004. He is the founder of Sportisleven, an organization that puts together sports clinics and adventure trips for people with a disability. He is the father to three daughters.
