Eden Rainbow-Cooper
Eden Rainbow-Cooper will make her United Airlines NYC Half debut two weeks after finishing as the runner-up at the Tokyo Marathon. She was fourth in her first race with New York Road Runners – the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon – and was the runner-up at the 2023 Berlin Marathon. She also owns a silver medal in the marathon from the 2022 Commonwealth Games and competed in her first World Para Athletics Championships last summer in Paris, where she finished as high as fourth place in her events.
Rainbow-Cooper was born with sacral agenesis, a neurological disorder that affects the body below the waist. She began wheelchair racing in 2013, inspired by former TCS New York City Marathon champion David Weir winning four gold medals at the London 2012 Paralympics. Shen then enrolled in the Weir Archer Academy in southwest London, working with Weir and his coach, Jenny Archer.
