David Nilsson
David Nilsson raced the full marathon at the IAAF World Championships in both 2015 and 2017. Last November, Nilsson broke the Swedish half-marathon record by 20 seconds at the Ageo City Half Marathon in Japan, clocking in at 1:02:09 to take fifth place. His record, however, has since been broken.
Over the course of his career, Nilsson has competed at four European Championships, and his indoor 3000-meter personal-best of 8:10.85 was set in New York when he finished second in the collegiate race at the NYRR Millrose Games at The Armory. Nilsson, who also coaches elite runners in Sweden, is now committed to qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Nilsson grew up in southern Sweden in a sports-oriented family; his parents both competed at the elite level and his brother and two sisters were members of Sweden’s national track and field team. At the 2002 Sweden cross-country championships, his family won four gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.- Date of Birth Apr 16, 1987
