Clayton Young USA

Clayton Young will make his United Airlines NYC Half debut after finishing second at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and stamping his ticket to the Paris 2024 Games. At the Trials, he finished one second behind winner and training partner Conner Mantz.

Last year, Young was seventh at the Chicago Marathon, where he earned his Olympic qualifying time, and won national titles in the 8K and 20K to add to the 15K national title he already had from 2021. He is the seventh-fastest American marathoner of all time despite having struggled with injuries and having to undergo knee surgery last year.

Before enrolling in college at BYU, Young took a two-year hiatus from competitive running to undertake a mission to a Spanish-speaking community in Raleigh for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He said he gained 30 pounds thanks to a lot of good southern cooking. After his mission, he competed at BYU, where he won the 2019 NCAA Division I title in the 10,000 meters.

Young and his wife, Ashley, reside in Utah with their two young daughters.
