Albert Korir
At the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon, Albert Korir took the tape in the men’s open division in 2:08:22, going one better and 14 seconds faster than his runner-up performance in 2019 to win his first Abbott World Marathon Majors race. In the process, he also secured the Abbott World Marathon Majors Series title for that year. He returned in 2022 to finish seventh in New York.
This year, Korir bettered his personal best, finishing in 2:08:01 to take fourth place at the Boston Marathon.
In 2019 Korir won both the Houston and Ottawa marathons, racing to what was then a personal-best 2:08:03 in the latter. In 2017, Korir won his first marathon, taking the Vienna City Marathon in 2:08:40 in chilly and windy conditions to lead a Kenyan sweep.
Korir is the father of a young son, Alan.
